Bruce Lee Poppenga Obituary
DELAVAN ~ Bruce L. Poppenga, age 76, of Delavan, passed away at 1:13 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at UnityPoint Health - Pekin Emergency Department.
Bruce was born on December 11, 1946 at Pekin Hospital to Jake H. and Betty I. (Dukes) Poppenga. While serving in the Army, he married Charsa Kauble on January 20, 1975 in Texas.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years and their daughter, Tabatha Lynn, as well as his beloved grandson Arren Perdue of Delavan. Bruce is also survived by three daughters from a previous marriage, Victoria Lynn, Lisa Marie, and Angelique as well as seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger brother, Brad.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several treasured pets.
Bruce served his country in the United States Army for 13 years. Upon honorable discharge from military service, Bruce served faithfully as a Custodian at Delavan School District, retiring after 24 years.
Bruce was a life-long Cubs fan, loved fishing, mowing, eating at buffets, planning trips, grilling, but most of all loved spending time with his family and pets.
Cremation has been accorded, with Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation or service. Bruce wished that family would take time to hold those close to you nearer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to: Delavan High School Drama Club, 907 Locust Street, Delavan, IL 61734 as he was immensely proud of his grandson's performances in several productions.
