It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of David William Ranken of Dixon, Illinois, who passed away on July 25, 2025, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Ranken and Vivian Ranken (Halleran); and his siblings, Jack Eugene Ranken (Priscilla) and Sandra Gipson. He is survived by: his wife Gail Ranken of Dixon; his children, Jeffrey "Jeff" Ranken (Michelle) and Tracy Sharp (Dennis) of Dixon; his grandchildren, Trenton Sproul (Marcela), Benjamin Ranken, Samantha Ranken and Abigail Ranken; his great grandchildren, Victoria Sproul, Madelynn Sproul, Caroline Sproul, Josephine Sproul and Gwendayln Sproul; his brother Gerald Ranken of Dixon; his brother-in-law Charles "Vic" Gipson; his foster daughter Laura Warkins; and his grandson Matthew Warkins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Church of the Brethren (215 N Court St, Dixon, IL 61021). A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens (1121 N Galena Ave, Dixon, IL 61021).
