He was predeceased by: his parents, Arvid Nelson and Clara Nelson (Gahnstrom); his wife Pamela Nelson (Nordstrom); and his sister Darlene. He is survived by: his children, Susan Nelson of Chicago, Illinois, Joanna Gates (Josh) of Hockessin, Delaware and Mitchell Nelson (Alexandra Wilson) of Wayne, Maine.; and his grandchildren, Anders Gates, Curran Dibiase and Rafe Dibiase. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the music program at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, a cause that held special meaning for Wendell and his family.
