He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ronald Sharkey and Marilyn Sharkey; his siblings, Bruce Sharkey, Ronald Sharkey Jr., Candace McClain and Nancy Koch; his son-in-law Brian Bollow; his grandson Rich; his wife Barbara Bain; his children, Brett (Tricia) and Lisa (Brian); and his grandchildren, Emma, Luke, Abby and Brandon. He was also cherished by his siblings; many close friends.
