We announce the death of Gary Allen Baumgarten of Dunlap, Illinois, who passed away on August 24, 2026, at the age of 86. He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Baumgarten and Izola Baumgarten (Stierwalt). He is survived by: his wife Vicki Baumgarten; his sons, Brice of Peoria, Darrin (Jeanette) of Peoria and Dallan (Traci) of Chandler, AZ; his stepdaughter Tanya Thomas of Columbus, OH; his grandchildren, Jade Wilkerson (Steve), Connor Baumgarten (Megan), Caden Baumgarten, Brendan Baumgarten, Halen Baumgarten and Aria Baumgarten; his great grandchildren, Isabella Baumgarten, Lily Baumgarten and Silas Baumgarten; his niece Karen Thies (Doug); and his nephew Scot Wirth. He is also survived by great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northwest Peoria United Methodist Church, TAPS/PAWS, or a charity of your choosing.

“Will always remember Gary as my brother-in-law. He loved baseball and the Cardinals. Many years ago we played pitch and catch for hours. He could throw the coolest knuckle ball and was an excellent shortstop for the men’s team he played for. He for sure was the best joke and story teller. Will definitely miss him and the times on the phone. Could tell some good times I had with him and will be remembering him. I pray for the family and wish you all God’s blessings.”
