He was predeceased by : his parents, Arnold F. Scherer and Eleanor M. Scherer; his former life partner Frances E. Scherer; and his brothers, Ray L. Scherer and Ross P. Scherer.
He is survived by : his wife Liene Sorenson; his children, James D. Scherer and Dr. Susan M. Scherer (Harry M. Richter); his grandchildren, David, Stephanie, Elisabeth, Charles and William; and his great grandchildren, Alexandra, Cecelia, Eva, Vera, Allegra and Solomon.
