He is survived by : his wife Liz; and his children, Paul J. Donovan (Hollie) of Dubuque, IA, Mary Kay Oleson (Josh) of Dubuque, IA, Ryan Donovan (Gina) of Las Vegas, Patrick Donovan (Anna-Louise) of Brisbane, Australia, Tyler, Haley, Adlyn, Cole (Laurie), Ella, Gavin (Nicole), Emilee (Seth), Antonio (Erin), Jace, Lennon, Wilhelmina and Josephine Elizabeth. He is also survived by five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 1st 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Miller Funeral Home - East Dubuque (1185 IL-35, East Dubuque, IL 61025). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, May 2nd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Raphael's Cathedral (231 Bluff St, Dubuque, IA 52001).
