He was predeceased by: his son Carl A. Ahrens; and his siblings, Marylou Roellig and Bob. He is survived by: his daughter Cindy Schulz (Dave); his grandchildren, Chris Schulz (Monica), Hanna Fournier (Paul), Tyler Schulz (Vivian) and Jack Ahrens; and his great grandchildren, Jonah, Micah and Charlotte.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be given in his name to the church.
