He was predeceased by: his parents, Dale Christenson and Jeanee Erickson Christenson; his wife Marie Young Derry; his daughter Michelle Nelsen; and his brothers, Mark Nelsen and Doug Gradin.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Nelsen (Dori) of San Diego, CA and Trina Jordan (Brian) of Oregon, IL; his grandchildren, Mallory Sanders (Zac), Marissa Boebel (Dan), Nathan Brass (Ali), Tyler Nelsen, Hannah Gruszecka, Luke Nelsen and Danielle Nelsen; his great grandchildren, Riley Sanders, Genevieve Boebel, Juliette Boebel, Sage Torri and Mila Brass; and his siblings, Gail Graves of Davenport, Marcie Bennett of Davenport and Terry Nelsen of Port Byron. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
