He was predeceased by: his parents, Lenoir Rives and Mable Rives; and his sister Mary Smith. He is survived by: his son Kaelin Eric Rives of Arlington, VA; his siblings, Dwight Rives of Seattle, Washington, Janet Brown Asberry of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Cedric Rives (Mary) of Belleville, IL and Lecia Rives (Faruq Salaam) of Shiloh, IL; and his godson Donald Perkins. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Southern Mission Missionary Baptist Church (2801 State St, East St Louis, IL 62205). A burial was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery (10101 W Main St, Belleville, IL 62223).
