With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Billy Ray Mathis of Edwards, Illinois, who passed away on October 2, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Eurie Mathes and Bertha Mathes (Hicks); his son Carl Mathis; and his siblings, Loys Mathes, Ruth Singleton, Carl Mathes, Luna Hollowell, Leonard Mathes and Bonnie Ellis.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Evatt; his children, Carolyn Coup (Robert) of Peoria and Jerry Mathis (Susan Durham) of Brimfield; his grandchildren, Christopher Coup (Jackie), April Lovell (Kyle), Johnny Mathis (Jessica), Kayla, Jade, Jasmin, Madison and Kylie Mathis; and his sister Earseal Richardson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home (2408 W Willow Knolls Dr, Peoria, IL 61614). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
