He was predeceased by: his parents, Ethel Winkle, (Smith) and Edward Winkle, Sr.; his wife Betty Winkle (Somerlad); his son Gary Winkle; his grandson Neil Corkery; his children-in-law, Connie Winkle and Patrick Corkery; and his siblings, Lois Lee, Lorraine Lamkin, Everett Winkle and Emmett Winkle.
He is survived by: his children, Deborah Corkery of Edwardsville and Dennis Winkle of Edwardsville; his grandchildren, Brendan Corkery of St. Charles, MO, Casey Corkery of Edwardsville, Colleen Corkery of Edwardsville, Melissa Winkle and Kimberly Ehret (Jake) of Edwardsville; and his great grandchildren, Finn Corkery and Jamyson Ehret.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Valley View Cemetery (1564 Lewis Rd, Edwardsville, IL 62025).
The family suggests memorials may be made to Metro East Humane Society or Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Little League (EGCLL).
