With heavy hearts, we announce the death of George Steven Widner of Edwardsville, Illinois, born in Litchfield, Illinois, who passed away on December 26, 2020 at the age of 70. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Edna Widner and George S. Widner; and his brothers, James Widner, Butch Widner, Luther Widner and Bill Widner.

He is survived by: his wife Kathleen K. Widner; his children, Steve (Wendy), Kraig Widner (Rene) of Brighton, IL, Kayla Orban (Robert) of Brighton, IL, Casandra Carney (Matt) of Edwardsville, IL and Samantha Smith (James) of Dorsey, IL; his grandchild Fourteen; and his siblings, Mary Alice Young of Litchfield, IL, Lucy Perkins of Mattoon, IL, Wanda Widner of Pleasant Plains, IL, Lilly Hemken (Bob) of Walshville, IL and Paul Widner (Debbie) of Eagerville, IL.. He is also survived by Fourteen Great Grandchildren.

“I was just told of Steve's passing (he was called Steve when we were in high school) and wish to offer my sympathy to his family. Steve and I were in high school together at Assumption High School. It was a small school so everyone knew each other. I remember Steve from all of our classes together and being on the football team for the "Assumption Comets." I recall Steve with lots of smiles and fun.”
