He was predeceased by : his parents, William S. Hanks and Elenora Hanks (Gremer); his brother Andrew Hanks; and his sisters-in-law, Bonnie Hanks and Debbie Hanks.

He is survived by : his children, Terri Hanks of Edwardsville, IL and William C. Hanks (Bridgett) of O'Fallon, MO; his grandchildren, Georgiana, Augustus and Francesca Hanks; and his brothers, James Hanks (Joyce) of Edwardsville, IL and Melvin Hanks of Edwardsville, IL. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (600 Water St, Edwardsville, IL 62025). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 15th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or charity of donor's choice.
