It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Dorothy Mae Carter of Effingham, Illinois, who passed away on January 30, 2024, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clide Rowan and Flora Alice Rowan (Cambron); her son Larry Lee Payne; her son-in-law Jack Guthrie; and her siblings, Robert Rowan, Donnie Rowan, Charles Rowan and Bonnie Wagner.

She is survived by: her children, Rick Payne (Debbie) of Farina, Lisa McGrew of Effingham and Ramona Guthrie of Effingham; her grandchildren, Jared Payne (Megan) and Michelle McGrew; her great grandchildren, Bryar Payne and Kaddy Payne; and her sisters, Murliel Farthing of Marion, Norma O'Brien of Marion and Linda Shoemaker (Dave) of Sigel, Illinois. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Family to assist with expenses and will be accepted through the funeral home.
