He was predeceased by: his parents, Aloysius Mette and Mathilda Mette (Kroeger); his sisters, Norma J. Mette and Carolyn Poe; and his brothers-in-law, James Miller and Art Sudkamp.

He is survived by: his wife Rita Ann Zuber of Joseph's Church; his children, Rhonda Deters (Ron) of Teutopolis, Jennifer Mette (Michael Thompson) of Stewardson, Brian Mette of Effingham and Brad Mette (Stacey) of Dieterich; his grandchildren, Johnathon, Lucas, Brock, Josie, Madi, Thad, Tyler, Brody, Torey, Jordan, MaKenna, Colton, Lexie and Sawyer; his great grandchild Willow; his siblings, John Mette (Janice), Eugene, Theresa Miller, Rose Sudkamp, Kathy Mitchell (Rick), Alice Johnson (Dennis), Mary Allen (Rex), Rita Mette (Tony Goeckner) and Janice Zimmerman (Bill); and his brother-in-law Robert Poe. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
