He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Goeckner and Gertrude Goeckner (Brummer); and his wife Trudy Carol Fitts. He is survived by: his sons, Timothy Goeckner (Brenda) of Decatur, Brock Goeckner (Susan) of Effingham, Todd Goeckner (Noelle) of Gladwin, MI, Daniel Goeckner (Cheri) of Pahrump, NV, Brett Goeckner of Cleveland, OH and Joel Goeckner (Jessica) of Altamont; his close friend Mary Jane Day; his grandchildren, Stephanie, Jeremy (Sara), Jessica, Jennifer, Kyle, Christopher, Erin (Kaleb), Natalie, Nicholas, Owen (Maddie), Jake, Lucy, Gabe, Robert, Harvey, Julia, Meghan and Autumn; his great grandchildren, Conner, Alexa, Chase, Gibson and Camden; and his siblings, Marge Willenborg (late Mel), Donald Goeckner (Jeanie), Connie Broom (late Jim), Paul Goeckner (Mary) and Mark Goeckner (Dawn).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Home (1110 N 4th St, Effingham, IL 62401). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, October 14th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church (101 E Virginia Ave, Effingham, IL 62401).
Memorials may be made in loving memory of Larry to Catholic Charities or St. Anthony Schools.
