It is with sadness that the passing of Marcella Bierman in Effingham, Illinois is shared. Marcella, born on January 16, 1934, passed away on September 15, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Louis Haarman and Marie Haarman (Hardiek); her husband Arthur "Jim" Bierman; her sons, Clifford and Greg; her son-in-law Clete Westendorf; her grandchildren, Jacob Laue and Krystal Neu; her great grandchild Eli Vonderheide; her siblings, Leroy Haarman, David Haarman, Bobby Haarman, Deloris Bergfeld, Betty Smithenry, Evelyn Haarman and Irene Haarman; and her brother-in-law Bernie Bergfeld.
She is survived by: her children, Steven of Effingham, Keith (Susan) of Dieterich, Sandra Laue (Tom) of Shumway, Karen Neu (John) of Effingham, Lori Westendorf of Wheeler and Janice Campton (Ken) of Wheeler; her daughters-in-law, Cindy Bierman of Raymond and Sandy Bierman of Dieterich; her sisters, Marilyn Smithenry (Ed), Linda Streich and Diana Worman (Richard); and her siblings-in-law, Wanda Haarman and Mike Smithenry. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren; and 54 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the St. Joseph Hall, Island Grove. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (16987 N 200th St, Teutopolis, IL 62467).
Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Cemetery Fund, Meals on Wheels of Dieterich, or to the donor's choice.
