He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Mette and Stella Mette (Brumleve); his grandsons, Jeffrey and Harold; his niece Jeaneane Jenne; and his siblings-in-law, Dean Matteson, Janet West and Steven Ring.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Greyson, Felix, Oliver, Cyrus, Avery, Emery and Isaiah; his siblings, Marlene McWhorter (Louis), Bernice Matteson, Don Mette (Nancy), Chuck Mette (Patty), Tom Mette (Marge) and Elaine Buehnerkemper (Brad); and his siblings-in-law, Betty Ring and Andy West.
