It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jerry Schmidt of Elburn, Illinois, who passed away on March 20, 2026, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Schmidt and Louise Schmidt; his parents-in-law, Irene Dodd Sachen, Ted Sachen and Lou Dodd; his sister Marlene; and his brother-in-law Erv Rada.
He is survived by: his wife Lonna Schmidt; his children, Jim Schmidt (Beth), Kevin Schmidt (Kris) and Kelly Schmidt (Ernie); his grandchildren, Dominic, Ben, Abbie Durbala, Kailey and Brady Schmidt; and his sisters, Ruthanne Lewis (Gary) and Jean Abner (John). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a community full of friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Jerry's name. Checks may be made to the "Joseph J. Schmidt Memorial" and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, 60119.
