He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerad Smid and Margaret Smid; his wife Sandy Howard (Smid); and his sister Susan. He is survived by: his children, Kelly Louk, Tracy Kime (Jim), Michelle Keyston (Bruce) and Jason Smid (Tamie Palmer); and his siblings, Jerry (Bonnie), Jan, George (Julie), Dede (Mike) and Ray (Tammy). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 4 great- grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the SPCA in his honor, or any historic train station.
