He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Axelson and Leola Axelson (Philipp); and his sister Judy Seiters. He is survived by: his wife Bernice Axelson (Pfluger); his son Brian Axelson (Jennifer) of Bellingham, WA; his granddaughters, Emily Christine and Elizabeth Grace; and his brother Dave Axelson (Shirley). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Anderson Animal Shelter, South Elgin, IL.
