David Scott Matison Obituary

We announce the death of David Scott Matison of Elgin, Illinois, who passed away on July 21, 2026, at the age of 60. David will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Darlene "Sue" Jorgensen and Gene Matison; and his stepfather Gordy Jorgensen. He is survived by: his wife Kathy Matison; his children, Shelby Vargas (Alberto), Baylee Mitassa (Roland), Josh Matison and Trevor Matison; his grandchildren, Mateo Vargas, Rafael Vargas, Noemi Vargas and Anola Mitassa; his siblings, Steve Matison (Mary) and Diane Sabatino (Larry); his aunts, Norma Miszklevitz (Sheridan) and Joanne Trotter; his nieces, Marissa, Kori and Kelsey; and his nephew Scott. He is also survived by cousins, extended family members, neighbors, and friends.
