Evelyn (Thiessen) Veldey Obituary

We are sad to announce that, on May 15, 2026, at the age of 98, Evelyn (Thiessen) Veldey (Elgin, Illinois), born in Mountain Lake, Minnesota passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

In the sacred silence of farewell, Evelyn is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. And as her memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Evelyn's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John Thiessen and Elizabeth Thiessen; and her sister Hazel Parkin. She is survived by: her children, Elizabeth Veldey (Thomas Temple) of Columbus, OH, Charles Veldey (Peggy) of Shelby Township, MI, Gregory Veldey (Leigh Weaver) of Madison, WI, Ann Veldey of Elgin, IL and Mary Goodrich of Fort Mill, SC; and her brother Harold Thiessen of Sleepy Eye, MN.. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Evangelical Covenant Church of Elgin Memorial Fund.
