We are sad to announce that, on August 18, 2020 we had to say goodbye to Joan Marie Colby (Elgin, Illinois), born in Chicago, Illinois. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Alan W. Colby; and her parents, Otho B. Turbyfill and Grace Turbyfill. She is survived by: her children, Wendelin Colby (T. Brian Kelly), Terri Colby (Dan Pape) and Benjamin Colby (Traci); and her grandchildren, Devin, Liam, Aislen Kelly, Daniel, Jeffrey Pape, Parker Colby and German Shepherd Vesta.

In 1983, she became the editor of Illinois Racing News, a monthly publication for the Illinois Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Foundation and the Illinois Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association, where she worked for over 30 years.

I really should have tried harder. She was just a really incredible person. I owe a lot to her. She was so feisty - I can't think of her as begin gone. I'm so sorry to you all. She was very proud of her family.”
