He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Schmerber and Barbara Schmerber. He is survived by: his wife Lois Kamphoefner; his children, Anna Ghiotti, Rebekah Schmerber (Jay Bethard), Sarah Schmerber and Daniel Schmerber (Kimberly); his granddaughters, Mary and Lucy Ghiotti; his aunts, Katherine Heimbach and Anne Nieman (Howard); Stephen Nieman.
When mobility and Covid made socializing a challenge, his dogs were his loyal companions, and his daily prayers and hymns sustained him and gave him peace (he also found great company in Judge Judy, Perry Mason and collegiate softball).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or the Wingman Foundation.
