He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Kastning and Clara Freiberg Kastning; his wife Dorothy Marie Lichtardt Kastning; his children, Richard Kastning (Colleen) and Sally Rolando; his great grandchild Jennifer; and his siblings, Delbert and Evelyn Mensching.

He is survived by: his daughters, Deborah Macleod (William) of Elgin and Sylvia "Jane" Sotos (Paul) of Crystal Lake; his son-in-law David Rolando; his grandchildren, Heather (Scott), Brad, Brittany (Drew), Christina (Roland), Jonathan (Kristin), Sarah (Ramon), Rachael (Ryan), Becca (Kurt) and Meagan (Ray); his great grandchildren, Ashleigh, Caitlin, Haylee, William, Paige, Mason, Noah, Lucy, Penny, Ella, Addi, Ben, Violet and Ramon IV; his sisters, Lois Homeyer, Darlene Mortimeyer and Irene Bauman; and his friend Landra Everett. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
