He was predeceased by: his son William Baez Jr.; his parents, Clotilde Baez and Segundo Baez; and his siblings, Filiberto Rodriguez (late Ana) and Haydee Flores (late Carlos).
He is survived by: his spouse Awilda Tovar-Baez; his children, Elsie LaForge (John) and Jansary Cortez (Jezieel); his grandchildren, Isaiah, Eva and Caleb; and his siblings, Louisa Ponton, Orlando Baez and Abigail Avila (Paco).
