He was predeceased by : his father Fred Joseph. He is survived by : his mother Nadine Shadowen Sr. (Ridgway) of Elkville; his wife Ethel Shadowen of Elkville; his daughters, Francine Helton (Jay) of Cape Girardeau, Carolyn Gant (Bobby) of Elkville and Natalie Romero of New Braunfels, Texas; his grandchildren, Christopher Farris, Abigail Farris, Jericka Helton, Zoe Gant and Bobby Gant Jr.; his pets, Jake and Baxter; his stepsons, Roger Gibson of Elkville, David Gibson of Carbondale, Robert Gibson of West Frankfort and Jeffery Gibson of Carbondale; and his pets, Annie and Lucy. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home (322 N Division St, Carterville, IL 62918). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
