He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his daughter Elise Hoekstra (Russell); his grandchildren, Kaleb (Emily), Chloe (Josh) and Natalie; his son John Van Hout (Nancy); his grandchildren, Luke, Tessa and Kate; his son Thomas Van Hout (Kelly); his grandsons, Ben, Max and Brady; his son Steven Van Hout (Candice); his grandchildren, Raegan, Noelle and Thys; and his siblings, Henny Butt and Anne Schaaf.
In his memory, donations may be made to Timothy Christian Schools in Elmhurst, Illinois.
