In loving memory of Benita J. Smith of Elwood, Illinois, who departed this world on July 17, 2025 at the age of 73. Benita leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jack Eslinger and Charlotte Eslinger; and her sister-in-law Terry Offerman-Eslinger. She is survived by: her husband Douglas Smith; her children, Jeremy Smith (Tara) and Jennifer Smith (Mike); her grandchildren, Taylor Smith, Tera Jensen (Travis), Brandon Matusak, Ryan Smith and Rachel Smith; and her siblings, Robert Eslinger (Barb), Rodney Eslinger (Karin), Melissa Gum (Mitch), Tonya Finger (Jim), Ledie Eslinger, Tina Hatley, Amber Jones and Amie Eslinger (Tom). She is also survived by several nieces' and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Carlson Holmquist Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory (2320 Black Rd, Joliet, IL 60435). A burial will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Sugar Grove Church and Cemetery.
