Brad Johnson wrote a sympathy message

“My heartfelt condolences to you all. John and I met during high school and became fast friends. He was an outstanding drummer in both concert and jazz band. His sense of humor could always lighten up a tense moment. Even though we haven’t seen each other much in the years since, John (Hans) will always be remembered by me with a smile and a laugh. I’m sure that’s the way he would want it to be. Godspeed John”
