He was loved and cherished by many people including : his children, Lawrence (Anne), Gerald (Maria), Patricia (late Michael Cashman), Kevin (Anita) and Terry; his brothers, George Jr. and Edmund; his wife Connie; his sister Cecily; his son John; his caregiver Colleen Craven; and also, Katherine, Marie, Sheila and Cecily. He was also cherished by his extended family.

He has donated his body to medical science. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum Complex (https://intrepidmuseum.org) in New York City (IntrepidMuseum.org).
