With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Martha Joe Smith of Evanston, Illinois, born in Tanner, Alabama, who passed away on August 28, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Connie and Martha Ida Moore (McAlpin); and her sister Mary Frances Moore Whatley. She is survived by: her husband Newland F. Smith; her children, Arthur Smith (Donna) and Jenifer Holman (Eric); her grandchildren, Jessica Smith, Ryan Holman, Emma Holman and Tyler Smith; and her siblings, Joseph Moore (Patsy) and Linda Graham (Jim).
