He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace William and Viola Munz Goembel; his sister Julia Ann Goembel; and his brothers-in-law, Stephen Graham and Nicolas Downey.
He is survived by: his close friend Karen Johnson; his son Coty Johnson; his siblings, Rick Goembel (Sally), Marilyn Vogt Downey of Brooklyn, NY and Marsha Graham of Rialto, CA; and his nieces and nephews, Justin Goembel (Melissa), Keith Goembel (Sarah), Michael Graham, Erika Vogt Fuller and Sheila Muller (Etienne).
The family suggests memorials be given to SELCAS.
