He was predeceased by: his father Charles Ray; and his grandparents, J. C., Lucille DeWitt, Wesley and Hazel Ray.
He is survived by: his mother Betty Ray (DeWitt); his significant other Rhonda Smothers of Fairfield; and his sisters, Trena Longbons (Bruce) of Albion and Rita Thompson (Doug) of Fairfield. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home, Inc. (106 NE 4th St, Fairfield, IL 62837). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home (106 NE 4th St, Fairfield, IL 62837). A burial was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at the Maple Hill Cemetery (905 E Main St, Fairfield, IL 62837).
Memorial donations can be made to either the Dr. Scranton Memorial Cancer Fund or the Wayne County Senior Center lunch program and will be accepted at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
