He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmett Thompson and Marguerite Thompson; his sons, Gary and Michael Thompson; and his brothers, George, Charles and Paul Thompson.

He is survived by: his wife Ingrid Victoria Thompson; his children, Sharon Kuhlmann (Richard), Chris Wasser and Lindsey Wasser; his grandchildren, Landry Wasser, Briar Wasser, Dawn Kuhlmann and Nicole Hayden; and his great grandchild Alex Hayden. He is also survived by many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Contributions in Carl's memory may be made to Children's Hospital and Wounded Warriors.
