He was predeceased by: his parents, Vaughn Welty and Edna Welty. He is survived by: his wife Jean Welty; his children, Christine Welty-Jose (Neil) of Swansea, Illinois, Gary Welty (Kathi) of Belleville, Illinois and Terry Welty (Sharon) of O'Fallon, Missouri; and his grandchildren, Sarah Welty, Tyler Welty, Daniel Hammoud (Haley), Emily Welty, Victoria Welty and Sophia Jose. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be submitted to Family Hospice of Belleville or the Alzheimer's Association.
