It is with sadness that the passing of Nicholas Katashuk of Fairview Heights, Illinois is shared. Nicholas, born on October 17, 1928 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 22, 2026. He was predeceased by: his wife Doris A. Katashuk; his parents, Nicholas and Helen; and his sisters, Alberta Space, Dolores Ames and Lorraine Sekera.
He is survived by: his children, Deborah Zarzecki of Collinsville, IL, Susan Cox of St. Peters, MO and Don Katashuk (Vickie) of Florissant, MO; his grandchildren, Jennifer Korsun (Lance), Tracy Hotz, Lee Zarzecki (Lara), Keith Katashuk (Katie), Lisa Reuther (Joe) and Jessica Wesche (Danny); his great grandchildren, Kylee Davis, Sofia Korsun, Jaxon Reuther, Ayo Zarzecki, Winnie Zarzecki, Anastasia Blei, Colby Katashuk and Atlas Wesche; his brother Robert Katashuk of Buffalo, NY; and his sisters-in-law, Dolores Gericke and Marlene Clouser.
Visitation was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kassly Mortuary, Ltd. (9900 St Clair Ave, Fairview Heights, IL 62208). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday, August 31st 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM and at 10:00 AM at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church (505 Fountains Pkwy, Fairview Heights, IL 62208).
