He was predeceased by: his wife Dolores; his parents, Cornelia DeTella and Edward DeTella; his siblings, Earl DeTella (late Frances) and Betty Calacci (late Dominic); his brother-in-law Philip D'Angelo (Carol); and his nephew Allan DeTella (Marcy).
He is survived by: his son Joel DeTella (Melissa); his grandchildren, Mia and Michael DeTella; his sister-in-law Patricia Miller; and his nieces and nephews, Kathy Selcke (Steve), George DeTella (Irene), Ann Marie Calacci, Carol Calacci, John Calacci (Jo), Christin Papp (Justin), Kim D'Angelo Jiracek, Carla D'Angelo Bolin and Todd D'Angelo.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 6th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home (530 W 14th St, Chicago Heights, IL 60411). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 7th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
