It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James J. Somers of Forrest, Illinois, born in Fairbury, Illinois, who passed away on January 18, 2024, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Aloysius Somers and Christine Somers (Donovan); his spouse Beverly King; his son Michael Somers; and his brothers, Frank and John Somers.

He is survived by : his children, Pam Hoogstraat (Randy) and Todd Somers; his daughter-in-law Tracy Somers; his grandchildren, Matt (Marcie), Kaylan (Jordan), Mandy, Alice Kay, Courtney (Blake), Jonah, Cassie (Daniel) and Nathan; his great grandchildren, Everett, Emery, Pryor, Quinlee, Tripp and Lily; his sister Mary Steenhausen; and his friend Lee.

The family suggests memorials be given to the Shriners Children's Hospital, Attn: Shriners Children's PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.
