He was predeceased by : his wife Sheryl Opland; his parents, Godfrey Opland and Josephine Opland (Rimm); and his son Eric Opland. He is survived by : his children, Mark Opland and Stacy Opland; his grandchildren, Hilary Opland, Eric Opland, Claudia Curtis, Micah Curtis and Kennedy Curtis; and his sister Beatrice Fisher (Opland).

A memorial service was held on Friday, April 5th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sax Tiedemann Funeral Home (9568 W Belmont Ave, Franklin Park, IL 60131).
