He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Long and Marjorie Long (Robson); his former wife Marie Slyvestrzak; and his siblings, Terry Long, Carol Coats and Sharon Johanek.
He is survived by: his children, Ralph Long (Cristy) of Salado, Jeremy Long (Deana) of Franklin and Monica Long of Franklin; his grandchildren, Gabrielle Hermes-Ramsey, Alyssa Releford, Jake Hermes, Blaire Long and Aerin Long; and his great grandchildren, Simon Ramsey and Kalla Hermes.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, August 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Camp Butler National Cemetery (5063 Camp Butler Rd, Springfield, IL 62707).
Memorials are suggested to the Franklin American Legion.
