With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Lois Arlene Smith of Franklin, Illinois, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her parents, Prince O. Francis and Mary Juda Denney Francis; her husband Louis Scott Smith; her son Samuel Louis Smith of Menomonee Falls, WI; and her siblings, Ray Francis, Eugene Francis, Thomas Francis, Sally Lindsey, Audean Smith, Alene Smith, Maxine Dawson, Ruby Brummett and Judy Crow.
She is survived by: her children, Beth Culbertson (Jesse) of Franklin, Susan Dodsworth (Rod) of Franklin and Tom Smith (Dena) of Franklin; her great grandchild Katie Harvey (Jeff); her son Becca Smith (Derick); her grandchildren, Oscar, Ruby of Milwaukee, WI and Adam Fromme; her son Aidan (Sam Fromme) of Chatham; her grandchildren, Kellan, Cooper, Kinley of Franklin and Matt Dodsworth (Courtney); her children, Norah, Liam of Sherman, Kate Hebbard (Royce), August of Evergreen, CO and Craig Smith (Bre); her grandchildren, Jaxon, Isla of Jacksonville and Alexis Atchison; her children, Payton and Chalen of Springfield; and her sisters, Louise Bunch of Jacksonville and Shirley Hermes (Don) of Waverly. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Williamson Funeral Home (1405 Lincoln Ave, Jacksonville, IL 62650). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 9th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials are suggested to the Durbin United Methodist Church or The Franklin/Waverly Military Support Group.
