He is survived by: his wife Robbin Mathews; his daughter Sarah Thompson; his father Joseph "Joe" Mathews (Judy); his siblings, Terry Mathews (Brenda), Steve Mathews (Donna), Sue Rudy (Earl), Rich Mathews (Judy) and Sharon "Sis" Meng (Ray); his grandchildren, Maddison Schneider (Dylan) and Matthew Thompson; his mother-in-law Alveria Conaway; his brother-in-law Mike Conaway; and his pet Chopper. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Renner Funeral Home - Freeburg (206 S Richland St, Freeburg, IL 62243). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the George Renner & Sons Funeral Home (206 S Richland St, Freeburg, IL 62243).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
