She was predeceased by: her parents, Gordon Rooks and Ethel Rooks (Hoekstra); her stepfather Gerrit; her parents-in-law, Sip and Shirley De Jong; and her son Daniel De Jong.
She is survived by: her husband Peter De Jong of Freeport, IL; her children, Nathan De Jong (Jennifer) of Freeport, IL, Rachel De Jong of Freeport, IL and Miriam De Jong of Grand Rapids; her grandchildren, Dylan, Cadan and Evan; her sisters, Alice Pasma (Orville) of Grand Rapids, MI and Pat Brock of Dunedin, FL; her siblings-in-law, Gary (Shirley), Alida VanderMeer (Lou) and Fran Rus (Joel); and her daughter-in-law Suzanne Rousseau. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In all that she did, her faith in Christ was her greatest legacy and foundation.
