He was predeceased by : his parents, Albin Franz and Elizabeth "Bessie" Franz (Leehan); his wife Helen Tietjen; and his brother Lehan Franz. He is survived by : his children, Steve Franz (Karen) of Aurora, IL, Mary Ann Ives (Mike) of Roscoe, IL, Katherine McGinty (Billy) of Suwanee, GA and Joe Franz (Peggy) of Geneva, IL; his siblings, Bob Franz (Marianne) of Deerfield, IL, Mike Franz of Freeport, IL, Barb Curry of Freeport, IL and Liz Casper (Steve) of Rockford, IL; and his grandchildren, Patrick Ives, Will McGinty, Alex Ives, Madeline McGinty, Nicolette Johnson (Ryan), Abigail McGinty, David Franz, Annmarie Franz, Lucy McGinty, Genevieve Franz, Grace Franz, Delia Franz and Molly Franz.

A rosary was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the Burke Tubbs Funeral Home - Freeport (504 N Walnut Ave, Freeport, IL 61032). Visitation was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, April 13th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A Mass was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church (1400 Kiwanis Dr, Freeport, IL 61032).

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Chuck's memory.
