He was predeceased by: his parents, John Koester and Leona Koester (Schrader); his wife Kathleen A. Koester (Kay); and his siblings, Evelyn Baysinger, Richard Koester (JoAnn) and Sheldon Koester.
He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Cindy Riley (Chris), Alan Koester (Deb), Jani Koester (Denise Jess), John Koester (Cathy), Sue Koester, Pam Koester, Kirsten Kiracofe (Kris) and Danny Koester; his close friend Sue Jones; Anna Jones-Marquez (Gerardo Marquez). He is also survived by 18 great nieces and nephews, and 11 great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Walker Mortuary (321 W Main St, Freeport, IL 61032). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, Dale has requested that donations be given to Friends Forever Humane Society, 966 W. Rudy Rd., Freeport, IL in his memory because he loved his dogs, Charky, Chipper, Tuffy and Trouble.
