Freeport – Delbert E. Veach, 85 of Freeport died on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Liberty Village Freeport, IL. He was born on March 25, 1936 in the Rock Grove Township area to the late Emmerson and Hazel (Reed) Veach. He graduated from Freeport High School and he then married Mary Mease on August 26, 1961 and together they raised a family. She died on May 22, 2016.

He was a tool and die maker at Micro Switch for 43 years. He was a faithful member of First Free Methodist Church of Freeport. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling, gardening, hunting, going to the casino and being with family.

He is survived by his children, Lori (Howie) Lawler of Pearl City, Jennifer (Kevin) Stake of Baileyville and Cynthia (Scott) Kappes of Freeport. 5 grandchildren Corbin Kappes of Freeport; Courtney (Collin) Heidenreich of North Carolina; Benjamin and Colton Stake of Baileyville; Dalton Lawler of Lena and great grandchild Hayes Heidenreich of North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother, Elmer Veach. Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment of his cremated remains will be in the Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum. Private family services will be held at a later date.
