He was predeceased by: his parents, William Veer and Myrna Veer (Dyson); his spouse Shirley Holland; his sons-in-law, Rodney Strong and Robert Rundall; his siblings, William "Bill" Veer, Franklin "Frank" Veer, Karl Veer, Charles "Bud" Veer and Rosemary "Rosie" Quintero; his grandchildren, Robert Strong, John Willis, Lisa McQueen and Tonya Love; and his great grandchild Kylee.
He is survived by: his children, Lucille "Lucy" Cali (Michael) of Freeport, IL, Ernest Charles "Chuck" (Tammy) of Freeport, IL, Melodie Strong of Freeport, IL, Duayne Veer of Freeport, IL, Sherrie Willis (Jeff) of Freeport, IL and Loretta "Lori" Rundall of Freeport, IL; and his siblings, Neva Barthel of Freeport, IL, Ralph "Doug" Veer of Georgia, Beatrice "Peachy" Dean of Tennessee, John Veer of Arkansas, Charity "Chat" Sullivan of Freeport, IL, Samuel "Sam" Veer of Freeport, IL and Ronald "Ron" Veer of Freeport, IL. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 8th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Church of the Nazarene (125 E Empire St, Freeport, IL 61032). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
A memorial has been established in Ernie's memory.
